SearchGPT: OpenAI Takes On Google

Written by Eric Bodnar | Nov 12, 2024 6:03:12 PM

OpenAI recently announced their newest feature: SearchGPT. SearchGPT aims to give users “fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources.”

The company has announced its intention to integrate the tool, which is being refined with a small group of users, into its popular ChatGPT chatbot.

OpenAI is attempting to take market share from Google in search by giving consumers new ways to seek information online, promising users the chance to “search in a more natural, intuitive way” and ask follow-up questions “just like you would in a conversation.”

"Getting answers on the web can take a lot of effort, often requiring multiple attempts to get relevant results. We believe that by enhancing the conversational capabilities of our models with real-time information from the web, finding what you’re looking for can be faster and easier," the company said in a blog post announcing the search engine.

SearchGPT will promptly and accurately answer your inquiries using the latest information from the web, providing clear links to pertinent sources. You can also pose follow-up questions as you would in a conversation, allowing the shared context to evolve with each interaction.
